United Airlines is increasing the fee to check a second bag on trans-Atlantic flights to $100. The 30 percent increase comes just six months after Delta started charging triple digits for additional bags.
“What you’re seeing is the new normal,” said Seaney. “Airlines had a grow-or-die strategy. Now they have a survive, contract, merge strategy.”
That strategy involves reducing the number of empty seats on planes. To do that, airlines are cutting back on flights and loading up cabins, but the extra weight means more fuel gets used. So even five fewer bags in the cargo hold helps.
The thing is, with a lot of airlines, when you buy...bag, they don’t actually give you...
jesus christ that’s ridiculous i bring like 5 bags with me when i’m only staying somewhere for a weekend
Remember when flying wasn’t the worst thing ever? #DistantMemories
Just flew United home a bit more than a month ago. And I thought that was expensive. I dodged that one. Geez. Go Virgin....
